Do you do eye exams?
No. Character Eyez is an independent optical boutique, not an optometry office, so we don't perform eye exams on site. Bring a current prescription from any optometrist or ophthalmologist and our licensed opticians handle the rest: measurements, lens selection, and fitting.
Do you accept vision insurance?
No, we don't accept vision insurance. We accept cash, check, and credit card.
Do you repair glasses?
Yes — walk-in repairs are welcome, no appointment needed, including for glasses you bought somewhere else. Broken screws, nose pads, bent frames, adjustments, and lens swaps are often handled on the spot; customers regularly mention walking out within 30 minutes.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome any time we're open: Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
What brands do you carry?
Fashion frames from Tom Ford, Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Porsche Design, Silhouette, ic! berlin, Swissflex, Lightec, John Varvatos, Seraphin, O.G.I., Oga, Kazuo Kawasaki, J.F. Rey, Boz, Kala, and Jones New York. Performance sunglasses from Maui Jim, Kaenon, Rudy Project, Ray-Ban, Bolle, Revo, and Serengeti. Prescription lenses by Varilux, Carl Zeiss, and Shamir.
Do you sell prescription sunglasses?
Yes — including polarized and progressive prescription sunglass lenses for performance brands like Maui Jim, Kaenon, and Rudy Project.
Can you put new lenses in frames I already own?
In most cases, yes. Bring your frames and your prescription and we'll tell you on the spot whether they're a good candidate — this works for vintage frames too.
Do you sell vintage frames?
Yes. We carry authentic vintage frames and sunglasses from the 1940s through the 1970s, and in many cases they can be fitted with modern prescription lenses.
